Speaking Up for Tillsonburg: Inside Advocacy Day at Queen’s Park
TORONTO: June 02, 2026 – Advocacy is one of the most important ways we serve our members. At the Tillsonburg District Chamber of Commerce, we believe a strong business community needs a strong voice.
Our CEO Rocio Salinas and President Lindsay Tribble traveled to Queen’s Park for the Ontario Chamber of Commerce (OCC) 2026 Advocacy Day. They joined Chamber leaders from all over the province to put the real, everyday challenges of local businesses directly in front of government decision-makers.
As OCC President Daniel Tisch noted during the event, driving the big policy changes that businesses need to thrive requires all of us to advocate together.
How We Represented You
We spent the day ensuring that Tillsonburg has a seat at the table. Here are the three main ways we stood up for our members:

Amplified Local Voices: We made sure provincial ministers understood the unique needs and economic priorities of our area.

Direct Access: We participated in ministerial panels and policy discussions focused on the future of Ontario’s economy, labor market, and business growth.

Collaborative Strength: We teamed up with neighboring Chambers to ensure our collective voice was clear, strong, and impossible for lawmakers to ignore.

A Warm Welcome from MPP Ernie Hardeman
We were warmly welcomed in Queen’s Park during Question Period by our Oxford MPP, Ernie Hardeman. We were also delighted that he joined us at the reception later in the day to continue discussing the unique opportunities and priorities of the Tillsonburg business community.

While touring the legislature, we had the wonderful opportunity to visit the Legislative Dining Room to see the beautiful painting Autumn Leaves by our member and local Tillsonburg artist Stella Jurgen.
We couldn’t miss the opportunity to see our hometown talent proudly showcased on a provincial stage!
